"It was a wonderful experience!"

Meike Zimmermann

I had never been to the rain forest before, so I was really impressed when I got there. I had taken Spanish classes in Cusco first and then decided to include in my plan a trip to the jungle while continuing my classes with my teacher. We did some really cool trips into the forests there - it was really fascinating; all the different plants and animals! I really liked that we also learned about our environment in our Spanish classes in Tambopata. I also loved the bungalows - so comfortable!
Thanks for the great experience!

School location

This program offers the unique opportunity to study Spanish in the Peruvian Amazon, in the TAMBOPATA Reserved Zone. This area, officially created in 1990, is located in the Southern East of Peru, only a 25 minute flight from Cusco. It compromises 5000 hectares and has much to offer for the nature lovers: what about 600 species of birds, 1200 species of butterflies, 90 species of mammals and 120 species of reptiles and amphibians, all in the amazing setting of the romantic and impressive rainforest vegetation? Spanish in Tambopata is truly an experience!

Spanish group courses are offered in combination with excursions in the jungle with an experienced guide. Part of the classes will be adapted to the environment studying the ecology of the amazing tropical rainforest of Tambopata. AMAUTA teachers from Cusco will accompany the students for the whole trip, therefore guaranteeing our high level of Spanish instruction.

Daily activities are organized, such as different hikes through the trail system where we can observe the wildlife; a visit to the Sandoval Lake where we will board small canoes and paddle to observe monkeys, turtles and perhaps even the family of the Giant Otter; a visit to the observation tower from where we can enjoy the jungle and the bird life; the total adrenaline experience to fly over the jungle from platform to platform in our Canopy Zip Down; a night walk to observe insects and search for caimans; a visit to the butterfly farm; a typical cooking class; a visit to a local community and the option to visit the Monkey Island and the famous Macaw Clay Lick (at additional cost).

Maldonado and is set in the beautiful rainforest on the side of the flowing Tambopata River.
