SPC CAIRNS Operating from Cairns for 20 years, SPC has decided to take the bold move of leaving an inner-city building and relocating to a 20.000m2 campus with tropical gardens in the high-end resort area of Cairns Northern Beaches approximately 10 years ago. We offer a full-immersion experience to our students, with swimming pools, jacuzzi, tennis and basketball courts, gym, games room, on-site accommodation and a cafeteria providing 3 meals per day in buffet style. We understand how daunting it can be moving to a different country, without knowing the language, the culture or the people, so just like a baby taking its first steps, SPC looks after all aspects of students’ lives at this important new beginning. With a 360⁰ strategy for our General English classes, SPC has a methodology that allows teachers to focus on the development of students’ interactive skills, while writing and reading are done as part of homework, respecting their own time and pace. SPC students are asked to write daily entries into a journal and to complete readings on a weekly basis. Books are leveled for English language learners and teachers will advise the recommended grade that students should start with as well as the best time to move up. For the students that would like to have extra teacher support, SPC has free Consultation Hours throughout the week, where teachers will provide help and look after students’ questions. Maybe students need help completing homework, or could not understand fully what was explained in class? This is why Consultation Hour is there. If students are willing to go even further, the ones living in the dormitory are welcome to join our free Evening Conversation classes, held from Mondays to Thursdays after dinner night. For the early birds and nature-passionate, Cairns has some of the most beautiful natural landscapes in Australia apart from being the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, incredible hiking tracks surround the Northern Beaches area and a flat surface also welcomes the bicycle lovers. For the night owls, Cairns is a top backpacking destination in Australia, offering great options of low-cost entertainment and nightlife. Enjoy an active clubbing scene with travelers from all parts of the globe.
