Surf South West caters to all ages and abilities. They have been teaching surf lessons in Croyde for over 22 years and provide experiences to remember! With qualified and experienced surfing instructors and beach lifeguards.

Surf South West is proud to be holders of ‘Centre of Excellence’ status by Surfing England, the sport’s governing body. This is the highest level attainable and is awarded in recognition that Surf South West has the highest standards of coaching. Surf South West has also been awarded Surf School of the Year by the UK Pro Surf Association. They are also holders of the Green Tourism Gold Award for our commitment to sustainability and the environment.

Students will:

Follow the British Surfing Association Junior Athletes award scheme using qualified and experienced surfing instructors and beach lifeguards.
Learn to surf or improve their skills at the nearby Croyde beach.
Learn and develop techniques for paddling, reading and catching waves, standing up and controlling the board.
Improve confidence in the water and learn specialist surfing vocabulary.
The surfing programme includes one full day excursion and at least three evening activities taken from the Discovering Devon Programme.

The class where quite good the teachers, the location I didn’t like the location, the facilities where so relaxing, in the activities they could put football , I love the housing.

Miss Castle lives with 2 children - Jamie (born 2007) who loves video games and playing the drums and Jack (born 2009) who likes football, PlayStation 5, Manchester United and eating candy. As a family they love to visit the beach, swim in the sea, look at the sunset by a fire and paddleboard. They have 2 cats. Mrs Whiskas and Felix. Both love cuddles.
Miss Castle works in the office at Country Cousins school in Welfare and Accommodation, making sure the homestays are nice and welcoming and occasionally teaches at the school.
The Castle family live in a quiet, convenient part of town, very close to Channel School and just a short walk to the town centre. Their home is a comfortable, child-friendly semi-detached house, it is a nicely furnished home with a busy, lively atmosphere. They do not drink alcohol or eat pork products.

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

If you are studying in the UK for over 11 months, you will receive a reference number called a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) that you need to submit to the UK embassy along with your General Student Visa application. Students who have successfully booked a language course and have paid their fees will receive a CAS from . Please note that UK law states that a CAS can only be issued to students who intend to pursue English language studies for over 11 months.

If you are studying in the UK for 11 months or less, you have to apply for a special visitor visa called a Student Visitor Visa. As a student visitor, you will not be able to work part-time while studying. If you plan to study in the UK for 11 months or less, a letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you.
