"It was great"

abdulmajeed Al Abri, student from Oman

The school was the best unit the last week, a teacher came and he doesn't look like he wants to teach.
The homestay was good but it was far from the school.
It was a good experience, I hope to do it again

"Great experience - expert school"

Ashraf Mohammed O Arafah, student from Saudi Arabia

it was great experience for me communicating with many nationalities using English language.

i like :
My teacher
activities in class and outside class was good but need more improvement.
location is great .

dislike or need improvement :
classes was very small to occupy the students
facilities : should be cafeteria or place selling snacks - toilette not enough.

HOUSING :
I received the family address and information on the same day of arrival.
The host family was great but the school didn't tell me they were hosting 7 student in one house - i knew that in the 4th day.
I was late everyday trying to use toilette - sometimes i didn't find a chair on the breakfast.

"It has been amazing"

Natalia Chacopino Santana, student from Spain

I've really enjoyed my experience in Brighton and it has been very useful for me. I think in just 5 week I had improved my English and I can recommend the school and Terry's house to everybody.
In Terry's house I felt like home. She and her son Mat (who was living with us) were kind and respectful people. With regards the school, the location is perfect, so close to the centre and you can find all the facilities you need around the area. I went to the school everyday on foot from my house so it was really comfortable. The teachers there were amazing, they were really open minded and relaxed people and you can really feel that they like what are they doing.
Definitely the experience has been exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much.

"Learning English in a good located school with great staff and nice students"

Benjamin Thomas, student from Switzerland

Classes: I attended the CAE exam class. We had a good team spirit and the students were welcoming, nice and motivated. The size of the class changed between 7-12 students. The fluctuation of the class was high. This fact makes it not easy for the students and teachers to prepare step-by-step.

Teacher: The whole staff of the school is wonderful, helpful, very friendly and with good spirits. My teacher was motivated and motivating, was very nice and had good expertise in teaching. We must speak English in class and she required to let the students speak as much as possible. The atmosphere was relaxed but studious. She was well prepared. The Facebook group of the CAE class provided the weekly plan, newspaper article or video clips of interest.

Location: Nicely located, central and close to the seafront. The school itself is quite small.

Facilities: They were okay but this issue is maybe the greatest disadvantage of the school. The classrooms were small and okay for a max of 12 students. During the breaktime there was always a big queue for the toilet and the student room was more a meeting room for students to have a chat or eat something. There was not a quiet place to study at the school.

Activities: The social program was fantastic, with a wide range of different activities and a great opportunity to meet students and make new friends.

Housing: I stayed in a host family in Hove. They were friendly, but despite this, I would not recommend this kind of housing, because it seems that for many families it is just a business and it is not worth the money you pay. It in fact makes you less independent. My family watched a lot of telly, which is why we didn’t really have talks and we did no activities at all together; they just provided food, but I never could take part in the family. There are good student houses in Brighton, or for longterm students, the option to rend a flat with mates.

"A short and intense experience"

Salvador Moreno Gutiérrez, student from Spain

I've had a very valuable experience at ISIS Brighton. The classes are nice - most times I didn't notice that I was having class. In addition, the teachers were great! It's very well-located, just in the middle of Brighton; you can walk easily to most of places from the school. On the other hand, my host family was very kind to me in my three weeks there.
Only thing I didn't like was the high prices of transport and even food at the supermarket. You have to keep your eyes peeled!

"Just perfect !"

Gabriela Minotto de Andre Seixas, student from Brazil

Firstly Brighton is a different and incredible city, with amazing people and places to go. ISIS school is also great! Everybody is always trying to make you feel at home with your family. And this is very important when you're studying abroad alone. My teachers were very attentive and wonderful educators. My host family was just the funniest family ever and they were very kind with me as well. Now you can see I had a perfect experience!

Ask a question

"I have a prospective student from Italy who I have been advising and who wants to study at The Liverpool School of English and has already been in touch with you since he was unsure that I'd be able to send him an invoice for your school. My student has noted that there is a discount for booking before Dec 2014. Is this a promotion for all of your students who book for 2015 summer? If so, could you please add it to the promotions section?"

Dyan Test, student from USA
Sarah Holbrook, The Liverpool School of English school representative

We do not have a discount for booking before December 2014. The only thing we have that could be interpreted as this is that anything booked before 19/12/2014 is charged at the 2014 rate rather than the 2015 rate.

"I have 3 prospective students from one family in Saudi Arabia who already have visitor visas to the UK and would like to study at ISIS Brighton: 19, 17, and 14 years old. Do they need to apply for Student Visitor Visas? Or can they study with their Visitor Visas? Can the three students be placed in three separate classes so they are not together? The father has requested this. Can you make an exception and accept the 14-year-old child, even though he is under the minimum of 16? If you cannot accept the 14 year old, can you offer alternative options (e.g. junior course or one-to-one course)?"

Admissions Team, UIC English Brighton school representative (Admissions Coordinator)

They need to apply for a Student Visitor Visa. The three students being placed in three separate classes depends on their level of English and we can't guarantee this at the moment. We can only accept students 16 and above. I am sorry, but we can't accept the younger one at ISIS Brighton.

"I have a prospective student from Spain who would like to study at Language Studies International: Brighton. Is the student residence available until September 13?"

We have a student residence available all year round which is 10 minutes walk from the school and newly decorated. There one single room with shared bathroom . Otherwise, we also have some host families available. The standard 20 course is also available for those dates.

Was this helpful? Yes

"The student is not a total beginner (she entered this information herself when she registered with us and I didn't update it properly after speaking to her my apologies!). She'd be at least at elementary and possibly pre-intermediate level. In this case, I assume she could still join the course, right? As for the home stay, I haven't been able to speak to her again and to present her with her options. I presume a pork-free diet would be okay and the higher price won't be a very great issue for her but I'll be sure to double check her preferences and budget."

Elementary/Pre-intermediate level should be absolutely fine for a Morning course so we just need to confirm her accommodation preferences. At the same time, due to limited availability of en-suite host families, unfortunately I doubt that they can also cater for halal diet and ensure no men/no dos. However if a standard HF is OK, we will be happy to go ahead and ask for a family with no young men and pets and with pork free diet. I would be also grateful if you please confirm whether she want to go with half Board or B&B (but no access to the kitchen to prepare her own meals). Please advise the student that B&B option might be difficult if she is going to stay for 6 weeks as all this time she will need to dine outside.

Was this helpful? Yes

"Is there any way she could make use of the kitchen though? Could she pay a supplement for this?"

hamda alnoobi salmin mubark alnoobi, student from United Arab Emirates

We will be able to do a self catering host family without breakfast at a price of half board or alternatively Half board with halal food.
