Cologne, located on the banks of the Rhine River and with a population of over 1 million, is the fourth largest city in Germany. The impressive Cologne Cathedral, the biggest Gothic church in northern Europe, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the landmark of the city.
Cologne is known for its cheerful, cosmopolitan and tolerant spirit. In the summertime, it offers a great variety of concerts, operas, dramas, musicals and open-air events, and the Rhine beckons visitors to take walks, bicycle trips or boat rides along its winding course.
The Humboldt students are guests at the Cologne City Hostel, right across the river from the main train station and in view of the famous Cologne Cathedral. The program center features modern, high-quality equipment and facilities in a quiet but central location.
